Introducing JŌJI Rooftop & Robata: Our First Venture into Bars!

We are beyond excited to introduce JŌJI, our latest venture perched atop the Cartier flagship at the corner of George and King Street. JŌJI is set to become Sydney’s most sought-after rooftop bar, offering a dynamic experience that beautifully blends Shibui, Wabi Sabi, and Datsuzoku principles into a lively cocktail menu and reimagined Japanese-inspired dishes. Whether you're seeking a tranquil afternoon or an energetic night out, JŌJI promises a unique vibe that evolves as the day turns into night.

Opening its doors on October 31, JŌJI spans 310sqm of rooftop space in the heart of Sydney’s CBD, offering sweeping panoramic views of the city. The venue is thoughtfully designed with a cocktail lounge, dining area, and terrace—ideal for unwinding or celebrating in style. The cocktail lounge is perfect for intimate gatherings, romantic date nights, or larger celebrations, while the dining room captures the vibrant energy of the bar. For those who love a bit of drama, the kitchen and bar counters provide a front-row seat to the action.

“At JŌJI, we embrace Japanese traditions like Shibui (simplicity), Wabi Sabi (imperfection), and Datsuzoku (creativity),” says Kerry Burgess, our Bar Manager. “Our cocktails are inspired by these principles, offering a unique, exciting twist while staying true to familiar flavours.” Guests can look forward to hero cocktails like the Bamboo, which blends tequila, tomato, and apricot for a refreshingly unique taste, alongside timeless favourites like the classic whisky highball.

Our food menu, crafted by Executive Chef Paul Farag, marries traditional Japanese ingredients with modern culinary techniques. Dishes like quail and pork jowl tsukune, Kingfish with umeboshi and yuzu kosho, and the playful scallop and bug sando showcase the depth and creativity of Japanese cuisine. We’ve also created a late-night menu featuring The JŌJI burger, made with Japanese wagyu bolognese, ensuring a mouthwatering option at any time of day or night.

Designed by architect Matt Darwon, the venue blends metallic accents with deep burgundy reds and warm Tasmanian blackwoods, creating an atmosphere that reflects the raw energy of Sydney’s CBD. The balance of light and shadow in the space enhances its intimate yet dynamic vibe, making every visit feel special.

“We’ve poured our heart and soul into crafting a space where everyone can enjoy world-class food, cocktails, and music,” says Ibby Moubadder, our Co-Founder. “We can’t wait for Sydney to experience everything JŌJI has to offer.”
